Online child abuse

19th february 08

A few days ago, one of my contacts wrote something on her site which drew my atention to this topic. She mentioned child abuse online, just that in this case the situation was more delicate. Here is what she wrote: “I went to my contact’s page, here it was the same..Thinking about my son and all these weirdoes ready to corrupt kids like him..made me very very mad.”

This site was also visited by many people. I clicked on some of their profiles too, and what I saw was the same. Nude pictures of very young boys (11- 13 I would say). They were writing things about themselves and recieved a lot of comments from older boys or men who liked their pictures very much. So to say. When you see something like it, you don`t know what would be more shocking: if they are abused and pedos put these photos online, or if the children themselves take them and post them only to get some atention.

The only thing you can think about is: what next? Can you imagine that these are real boys, real photos, and real people watching them? People, with two arms, two legs, a head and a body who are searching for these pictures online. There is a whole industry of pornography with minors. It`s horrible and sad if these children are abused by adults, but if they post them themselves.. that is just sad. What can you do? How did they come to this? Their parents don`t check on them, they don`t recieve any atention so this is their only solution. But is it? I hope not.

Most of my readers online are adult people which is great I guess. I am very young, I just recieved the right to vote, so I can very well remember the time I was younger. And it`s so sad that some people do these things. How would I have felt? ..

There are three things you need to have as golden rules, in my opinion.

1. Be careful and silently control your children! Their photos, the people they chat with, and by the way, what 12 year old needs a webcam and an Internet site? Don`t allow them to go to strange places! They might get mad. But they will thank you later. And never give up.

2 Talk to your children or your friend`s children! Sometimes young people open up to people who are not part of their family. In most cases, they are most open to someone their own age, but the recieved advise is not the best all the time. If a 13 year old asks a 14 year old crack addict if he should try it too, and this one says yep it`s not alright!

3 Be careful what you post online! Even if you want to post “hot pics” for fun, remember they can be saved and used in many forms. You would be amazed what you can do with modern technology!

So, be careful, report anything that disturbes you and don`t give this industry a chance to grow!

Thank you for reading!

P.S.  I initially published this on another website, so this is why i said I saw other profiles. Thank you for understanding!
