The first time I heard about Halloween I think I was in primary school and didn`t understand much about it. Later, I learned more and more about it, from reading and watching documentaries and fiction films. In Romania, my country, there was always this controversy on whether we should or should not celebrate Halloween, not being a traditional Romanian holiday, and being a more or less creepy holiday. Anyway, Halloween became a part of our popular culture, with children carving pumpkins and adults throwing costume parties. In the Brasov region, people are drawn to the Bran Castle, which is known as Dracula`s castle. I was wondering a few years ago whether Halloween would ever become a part of our culture as it became part of the American`s culture. Last year, I saw in Cluj Napoca people displaying their carved Jack O`Lanterns in front of their houses, which would have been unacceptable a few ten years ago. I think that it won`t be long until kids will start trick-or-treat-ing. I don`t know yet what to think about it, but so far it hasn`t caused any damage to society. So, Happy Halloween!
